About Knox Ridge Baptist Church
Who We Are
Knox Ridge Baptist Church is a local church family committed to loving Jesus, loving others, and helping others love Jesus. We seek to live out our faith through worship, service, prayer, and the teaching of God’s Word.
We place a priority on the Bible as our final authority and strive to follow Jesus faithfully in our everyday lives. Our church is made up of people from different backgrounds and life stages, united by a shared desire to grow in faith and community.
Our Pastor
Pastor Jon Dowdy
Pastor Jonathan Dowdy had the privilege of serving the Lord with Child Evangelism Fellowship of Maine for over 20 years until God called him to pastor this church in 2025. He counts it a privilege to shepherd the church in which he grew up, which encouraged him through his training at New Brunswick Bible Institute and in ministry with CEF. Pastor Jon and Ann have six children ranging from preschool to high school. Their goal in life is to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33a).
What We Believe
Knox Ridge Baptist Church believes the Bible is the inspired Word of God and our final authority for faith and practice. We believe in one God, eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We believe salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Jesus Christ alone.
We believe Jesus Christ is the Son of God, born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, died on the cross for our sins, and rose bodily from the grave. We believe all people are sinners in need of salvation and that forgiveness and eternal life are available through repentance and faith in Christ.
We believe the church exists to worship God, teach the Scriptures, encourage believers, and share the gospel with the world. We seek to live lives that honor God and reflect His love to others.
Our History
The roots of Knox Ridge Baptist Church reach back to 1830, when land was purchased in Knox for the purpose of establishing a Baptist church. The church was formally organized later that year and served the community faithfully for generations.
After a period of decline, the church was reorganized in 1937, beginning a renewed chapter of ministry in the area. Over the years, the building has been expanded and improved, including the addition of the fellowship hall and other renovations to better serve the congregation.
Throughout its history, Knox Ridge Baptist Church has remained committed to biblical teaching, community involvement, and faithful service. Today, we continue that legacy with gratitude for the past and hope for the future.
